About Our Child Evaluation Services

Our child evaluation process is led by specialists at our dedicated, kid-friendly Washougal office. For children ages 2.5-12, the intake process is parent-only, allowing us to gather history. We then work with your child using a gentle, supportive approach to gain insight into their world.

Psychoeducational Testing

A psychoeducational evaluation for youth who exhibit signs of learning difficulties entails a comprehensive assessment of cognitive abilities, academic performance, and behavioral patterns. This type of evaluation will also seek to determine if your child is autistic, living with ADHD, or has a specific learning disorder. This provides an accurate understanding of the child's specific profile so that an individualized plan can be created to help them succeed.

ADHD and Autism Only Assessments

Given the 2020 pandemic, we are now able to accurately diagnose ADHD and ASD via Telehealth. This often includes clinical interviews with the individual and sometimes with a parent/caregiver. Data is also gathered via rating scales often completed by the individual, their caregiver, and sometimes their teacher. Therefore, this process allows for a seamless and accessible option to those who are in need of a brief evaluation to better understand themselves.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PsyD)

Hello, I'm Katherine Stubblefield, a licensed clinical psychologist with a PsyD, relocating from South Florida to Southwest Washington. My journey in the field of psychology began in 2006 as a peer mentor for children with epilepsy and other related conditions. In 2016, I embarked on a new chapter by pursuing my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University, where my training focused on neurodevelopment, assessments, and the transformative power of acceptance and commitment therapy. Following my doctoral studies, I completed postdoctoral training specializing in comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for toddlers and children suspected of living with autism. Today, I am a private practice clinician, dedicated to conducting comprehensive evaluations for toddlers, children, and teens. My passion lies in making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families, and I'm excited to continue this journey in the world of clinical psychology.

Autism Specialist

With a decade of experience working with children on the autism spectrum, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my role as an autism specialist. Given my training over the years, I am equipped to conduct comprehensive evaluations in both English and Spanish, enabling me to better serve bilingual Spanish-speaking families. Early identification is at the core of my mission, and I am passionate about ensuring that children and their families receive the support they need to thrive.

ADHD and Learning Disorders

In addition to my work as an autism specialist, I have received specialized training in conducting evaluations for ADHD and Learning Disorders. These evaluations go beyond the surface to delve into the child's cognitive profile, identifying both their strengths and areas for growth. This comprehensive assessment allows me to gain a holistic understanding of how these cognitive factors influence the child's social, emotional, and academic performance. I believe that a thorough evaluation in this regard is the first step towards tailoring interventions that are not only effective but also sensitive to the unique needs of each child. My commitment to promoting overall well-being and development is at the core of my approach, and I'm dedicated to helping children and their families navigate the challenges they may face with empathy and expertise.

Cultural Awareness and Competency

Cultural awareness and competence are pivotal to my practice, and as a Hispanic female raised by an immigrant family, I bring a deep understanding of the challenges and strengths that diverse individuals and families may possess. I've had the privilege of working with clients from a wide spectrum of religious and cultural backgrounds, and I make it a priority to be culturally sensitive and informed. I recognize the profound impact that culture can have on a child's behaviors and development, particularly for recently migrated families, and strive to account for these influences in my assessments and interventions. Additionally, I am proud to provide a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals, drawing from my experience in working with this community to ensure that they receive compassionate and understanding care. My commitment to cultural competence is rooted in the belief that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and supported on their unique journey toward well-being.
